After the last day of fasting comes a celebration (inevitably). This celebration is called Eid.
Eid Al Fitr translates to the festival of breaking the fast.
The exact date Eid is dependent on a combination of the sighting of the new moon and astronomical calculations.
Once the date has been determined, Muslims all around the world begin preparing feasts for all. It is such an exciting day to exchange different foods with people belonging to different cultures. It is our way of learning about our fellow Muslims and brings us all together.
Eid day begins with a clean house, lots of food on the table and a fresh shower.
After showering everyone goes to the Mosque with a little bit of the food that was prepared so everyone can engage in festivites.
Traditionally, adults give younger children money as a reward for behaving themselves throughout the month, but presents also include other things that are not cash.
On Eid day, you will often see on social media or heard in person, "Eid Mubarak!" This simply means have a blessed celebration.
